Well, another weekend has come and gone. I feel like I could have used an extra day tacked on to this one. On Saturday, when I wore this outfit, Chris and I pursued our own interests for the morning and afternoon. He headed to a woodworking show, and I went thrift shopping at the Salvation Army — where I scored a couple great finds! We met back at the house to enjoy a snowy afternoon/evening at home.

How was your weekend?

Hi, there! How was your weekend? I kept it low-key and used my time to catch up on this and that. I told you on Friday that we were going to see The Hobbit this weekend, but we ended up seeing The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with some friends instead. It was a fun, feel-good movie that I’d recommend checking out if you get the chance. I’m hoping we actually do get to see The Hobbit next weekend … back in the day I would have been at the midnight premier!

On a more style-related note, I wore this outfit on Sunday. The last time you saw this Tolani wrap was for the Sigur Ros concert this past fall. I love how versatile it is, summer through winter, whether I’m curled up on the couch, at the office, or layered up to go out and about.

Good luck with your Monday!

What I wore: Vintage Hat, Calvin Klein Coat, Vintage Plaid Shirt, Bar III Sweater, Gap Jeans, Jessica Simpson Boots, Lonchamp Bag

This past weekend was the best. Thursday night and into Friday, we had our first accumulating snow of the year. It snowed on and off for the rest of the weekend, leaving everything white and beautiful. On Friday night, Chris and I had our date night and ate at Cracker Barrel; some comfort was what the weather ordered.

Saturday was a big day for me because I got my ears pierced … for the first time, ever! I took my best friend Karin with me and went to Icing to get the full experience. I chose small, simple gold studs, and I’m hoping Santa brings me some more earrings for Christmas! 🙂

Saturday afternoon, Chris and I went to a nearby Christmas tree farm to pick out our tree. It was so fun walking through the aisles of trees, in the snow, choosing the perfect one. I’ll have a full post on that later this week, so stay tuned!

Sunday was dedicated to errands and getting our tree up and decorated. Our house is looking good right now, let me tell you. I can’t wait to share photos of our tree, which is pretty big. You can see it how tall it is in this Instagram shot. Sunday night, we had Crock Pot chili and watched The Amazing Race finale.

Tell me about your weekend – I’d love to hear!

Modcloth Headband, Calvin Klein Coat, Sunglass Warehouse Sunglasses, Thrifted Ralph Lauren Sweater, Gap Jeans, Jessica Simpson Boots, Longchamp Bag, Equestrian Stock Pin – Old

We had our first dose of truly cold weather this weekend, so I got to break out my new coat (which I’m super excited about!) and this Ralph Lauren sweater that I thrifted over the summer and have been waiting to wear ever since. As I was getting ready, I opened up my jewelry box to pick out a necklace, but none of them were working with the neckline and braided front of the sweater. I then noticed some pins sitting at the bottom that never get worn. Pins seem to be a thing of the past, don’t they? I haven’t worn a pin since I was forced to back in college for sorority chapter meetings … and I don’t think I’ve worn a pin because I wanted to since kindergarten.

But yesterday, I decided it’s time pins make a comeback! For this outfit, which felt very equestrian, I wore my gold stock pin that I used to wear when I competed in horse shows. A perfect little accent, I think! I have a couple other pretty ones that I’ll definitely be wearing this winter (see Instagram).

Doesn’t this Monday feel sweeter than normal knowing a long holiday weekend is near?

What I wore: Velvet Top from Ruche, Gap Jeans, Sam Edelman Boots, Sweater C/O OASAP, Longchamp Bag

Hello! How was your weekend? I wore this outfit Friday evening for our date night. Chris was craving wings, so wings it was. I would like to brag about the fact that I got zero wing sauce on my velvet top. A feat, in my opinion.

In other news, you can really tell how badly I need a haircut in these photos. It’s been over a year since my last haircut. Yikes. I’ve been thinking about about doing something shoulder-skimming like this, but I don’t know if I’m ready to say goodbye to the length. Thoughts?!

Doesn’t it feel like Friday was just here? Weekends are the best, so I’m definitely not complaining, but the daily rhythm of wake up, go to work, come home, eat, sleep, and repeat makes the weeks go by so quickly. And it doesn’t help that I see less than an hour of sunlight a day. Darn time change!

What are you doing this weekend? Chris and I are going to tour a local brewery on Saturday, but other than that it’ll be a relaxing weekend at home. Have a good one!

3 Things I’m Looking Forward to this Weekend

Coffee Table

  1. Watching the MasterChef Junior finale — Confession: I have a longstanding crush on Gordon Ramsay. I watch all of his reality shows, but MasterChef Junior is the tops! First of all, it is simply amazing how well these kids cook. In the first episode, Alexander baked perfect French macarons, and my money has been on him ever since. Secondly, you get to see a softer side of Gordon Ramsey … he is SO good with the kids! It’s heart-melting. If I haven’t convinced you yet, check out BuzzFeed’s 25 Reasons MasterChef Junior is the Best.
  2. Attending Southport Antique Mall’s Throwback Threads event — If you live in the Indianapolis area, head down to Southport Antique Mall on Saturday from 12 to 3 for their Throwback Threads event! There will be a roving fashion show featuring vintage outfits, two fashion trucks, and three food trucks. Not to mention, the antique mall is having their major semi-annual sale! Karin and I are going, and I can’t wait.
  3. Being home — I am SUCH a homebody, and going out of town last weekend threw me off my groove. I hope to do some baking and work on some decorations for the holidays!

What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Happy Friday, you guys! This week was a busy one. On Monday night I had my floral design class, and it was wonderful! We learned how to prep and arrange a dozen long-stem roses, and it’s definitely not as simple as it seems. I’m really enjoying the yellow-red roses on my dresser! On Tuesday, my coworkers and I went to TEDx Indianapolis, and it was a super inspiring and thought-provoking day. Sometimes you just need something like that to lift you up out of your own little world and add a little perspective to your life. Besides that, it’s just been a busy week at work and at home — as this time of year always is.

This weekend I’m looking forward to relaxing and catching up on things like my Bloglovin’ feed, which has 179 unread blog posts waiting for me. What are you up to this weekend?

Oh! Anyone else watch the Pretty Little Liars Halloween special? Thoughts?! I thought Caleb’s sendoff was totally hokey. Like Hanna would actually tell Caleb to stay in Ravenswood with Miranda, a girl they had literally just met. But I’m glad they didn’t have those two break up! Makes me wonder how the two shows will be intertwined… Also, I’m glad Ali finally revealed herself!
